RetryPilot alternatives
Last reviewed 2026-10-07
RetryPilot is the cheapest full recovery tool we compare, and the closest thing to a direct competitor we have. That makes this the page where it would be easiest to be unfair, so we have put what they do better first.
What RetryPilot costs
| Plan | Price | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Up to 3 active recovery campaigns at a time. |
| Pro | $49/mo founding price | Up to $50k MRR. Unlimited recoveries, the full analytics dashboard, and their AI leak audit. Locked at $49 for as long as you stay subscribed. |
| Scale | $99/mo | For larger MRR. |
| Growth | $199/mo | For larger MRR again. |
Read from retrypilot.com on 7 October 2026. The founding price is described as locked for as long as you stay subscribed, which is worth taking seriously: it is the kind of term that does not come back once a product matures.
At $49 a month capped at $50k MRR, this is roughly a fifth of Churnkey's entry tier and a quarter of Baremetrics with the Recover add-on. For a small SaaS that has measured a real problem, it is the obvious first purchase in this category.
What it does that we do not
Everything that counts as recovery. RetryPilot keeps retrying failed charges, emails your customers a one-click link to fix their card, and reports how much came back. Their own headline is about winning back revenue that quietly leaks away, and that is a fair description of the product.
Cardnudge does none of this. It does not retry, does not email anyone, and cannot recover a single dollar. If your audit shows real recoverable money sitting in expired cards, a tool like theirs is what converts that number into revenue, and we would rather say so than pretend a read-only report competes with it.
The access question, fairly
RetryPilot connects through Stripe Connect OAuth with read-write scope. We ask for a restricted key with three read permissions and nothing else. That is a real difference, and it is also not a criticism.
You cannot retry a payment with a read-only key. A tool that acts on your account needs permission to act, and read-write is the honest shape of a recovery product. The trade you are making is not sloppiness on their part, it is capability for access, and it is a reasonable trade once you have decided you want recovery.
Where it matters is the first step. Finding out whether you have a problem should not require granting write access to your billing system, and that is the only reason our audit asks for less: it does less.
The two audits, side by side
RetryPilot includes what they call an AI leak audit, a read-only pass over your last 90 days of invoices, on the Pro plan. It is the feature closest to what we do, so here is the comparison without spin.
| RetryPilot's leak audit | A Cardnudge audit | |
|---|---|---|
| Window | Last 90 days | Last 365 days |
| Price | Included on Pro, $49/mo | Free |
| Access needed | Connect OAuth, read-write | Restricted key, three read permissions |
| Account required | Yes | No |
| What happens next | The product acts on what it finds | Nothing. You get a number and a breakdown. |
Ninety days versus a year matters more than it sounds. Expired cards cluster around renewal dates, and a quarter can miss a whole annual cohort. A year is also simply a more defensible figure to put in front of a co-founder.
When RetryPilot is the better choice
- You already know you have a recovery problem and want it fixed, not measured again.
- You are under $50k MRR, where $49 a month locked is the cheapest serious option in this category by a wide margin.
- You want retries, customer emails and a card-update link from one product, without assembling them yourself.
- You are comfortable granting read-write access, which is the normal requirement for any tool that acts on your billing.
One more thing, said plainly because you would find it out anyway: RetryPilot is a small independent team in Sweden and describes itself as early. So are we. If you are choosing between two young tools, judge them on what they ask of your account and what they show you before you pay, not on which one has the more confident homepage.
Questions people ask
- How much does RetryPilot cost?
- A free tier limited to three active recovery campaigns, Pro at a $49/month founding price covering up to $50k MRR with unlimited recoveries and their AI leak audit, then Scale at $99/month and Growth at $199/month for larger MRR. Read from retrypilot.com on 7 October 2026.
- Does RetryPilot need write access to my Stripe account?
- Yes. It connects through Stripe Connect OAuth with read-write scope, which is what any tool that retries charges or updates payment methods requires. A read-only connection cannot retry a payment.
- Is RetryPilot's audit the same as a free audit?
- Not quite. Theirs covers the last 90 days and comes with the Pro plan at $49/month; ours covers 365 days, is free, needs no account, and asks only for three read permissions. Theirs feeds a product that then acts on the findings, which ours does not.
- What is the cheapest way to actually recover failed payments?
- Stripe's own Smart Retries and failed-payment emails, which are included in Stripe Billing and cost nothing extra. Turn those on before paying anyone. Among paid tools, RetryPilot at $49/month is the lowest entry price on our comparison pages.
