Churn Buster alternatives

Last reviewed 2026-10-07

Churn Buster sells retention as a service more than as software, and its pricing reflects that. This page gives the published numbers, points out the free tier that competes directly with our own audit, and says plainly when paying them several hundred dollars a month is the right call.

What Churn Buster costs

Pricing is based on your MRR and moves up or down as you cross tiers. It is a flat fee rather than a commission on recovered revenue, billed month to month with no contract.

PlanPriceWhat it covers
MeasureFreeRecovery analytics and their MCP, which lets you ask Claude or ChatGPT about your retention data.
Dunning or Cancel FlowsFrom $269/mo, based on MRROne of the two products rather than both.
Dunning & Cancel FlowsFrom $430/mo, based on MRRBoth, plus analytics, segmentation, A/B tests and guidance from their retention team.
Advisory$2,500 one time, based on MRR60 days of measurement, a report with benchmarks, and a one-hour review with your team.

The free tier nobody mentions

Churn Buster has a free plan called Measure, and it includes recovery analytics. We are going to be blunt about what that means for us: it is the closest thing to a direct competitor our free audit has, and any comparison page that quietly skips it is not worth reading.

The differences are real but narrow. Measure is an account you sign up for and connect, and it keeps reporting over time. Our audit is one read-only pass with no account, no stored key and a twelve-month total split by decline family, after which you close the tab. If you want ongoing retention reporting, theirs is the better shape. If you want a number this afternoon without creating anything, ours is.

When Churn Buster is the better choice

  • You want people, not just software. The paid tiers include guidance from their retention team, and the Advisory product is explicitly a diagnosis with benchmarks and a review call. Nothing else on our comparison pages sells that.
  • Your churn is a mix of voluntary and involuntary and you want both addressed by the same team, with A/B tests run properly rather than by guesswork.
  • You are large enough that $430 a month is a rounding error against what you are losing. At that price the tool has to recover more than $5,160 a year before it breaks even.
  • You want a flat fee rather than a commission. Some competitors take a share of recovered revenue, which gets expensive precisely when the tool works.

The Advisory offer is the unusual one and worth considering on its own terms. $2,500 for 60 days of measurement, a benchmarked report and a review is a lot of money for a small SaaS, and genuinely reasonable for a company where a point of churn is worth five figures a month. Know which of those you are.

When it is the wrong size

At a few thousand in MRR, $269 a month is not a tool decision, it is a hiring decision. Before signing anything at that price, two things should be true: Stripe's own Smart Retries and failed-payment emails are switched on, and you know what your failures actually are. Expired cards, insufficient funds and hard declines need completely different responses, and only one of the three responds to a better retry engine.

Questions people ask

How much does Churn Buster cost?
Their pricing page listed a free Measure tier, dunning or cancel flows separately from $269/month, both together from $430/month, and a one-time Advisory engagement at $2,500. All paid pricing is based on your MRR and adjusts as you move between tiers. Read on 7 October 2026.
Does Churn Buster have a free plan?
Yes. The Measure tier is free and includes recovery analytics plus their MCP integration for querying retention data through an AI assistant. It is the only free tier among the paid tools on our comparison pages.
Is Churn Buster a flat fee or a commission?
A flat fee based on MRR, billed month to month with no contract. That matters because commission pricing costs you most in the months the tool works best.
What is the cheapest way to find out what failed payments cost me?
Stripe's own recovery analytics, which you already pay for through Billing, or a free audit. Churn Buster's Measure tier also does this at no cost if you want ongoing reporting and do not mind creating an account.
